You might know Ellie Goulding as the London-based singer behind trippy dance track "Lights," or perhaps you've heard about her rumored romance with dubstep producer extraordinaire, Skrillex. Or maybe you remember that she served as the entertainment for the wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton by performing Elton John's "Your Song" for the newly married royals.
Whether you're familiar with Ellie Goulding yet or not, get ready to start hearing a lot more about the self-admitted tomboy with the voice of an angel, because the British singer is here to stay. Get to know Ellie a little bit better by discovering a few of her favorite things (cue Julie Andrews).
FAVORITE DRINK TO ORDER TO START THE NIGHT:
I love cocktails. I know they're really bad for you. But, I really love cocktails. If I'm just having a standard sort of like, 'Tonight I’m going to get drunk [night],' it'll be like a vodka Tonic with lots of lime or vodka soda.
FAVORITE REALITY TV SHOW:
Geordie Shore, which is the British version of Jersey Shore. The girls in there are so vulgar and they’ll talk very openly about thinks and they're gross, but they're also like, my heroes at the same time. There's something about tough love. One is always the one telling the girls to man up and get over stuff. She's really tough. You don't want to cross her or anything... And there’s nothing like my Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
FAVORITE SONG TO BELT OUT WHEN YOU'RE ALONE:
There's so many. This morning I was singing one of the songs from Pocahontas - the Disney movie - to warm up... 'Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon...' I was singing that this morning because it's just a good song. It's such a great soundtrack, actually. 'I’ll look once more just around the river bend...' I was singing that too.
FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE:
Disney was my life when I was young because there was nothing else to do, other than watch films. I'm gong to say Sleeping Beauty because it was the first one that I watched.
I always wished I had my sister's name - Isabella Alexis she's called. I think that's the sickest name. Alexis is so cool, so I was always jealous of her name because my name is Elena and my other sister's called Jordan and my brother's called Alexander. Isabella Alexis is like the most beautiful name. She doesn’t appreciate it.
FAVORITE STYLE ICON:
I am quite a tomboy, really. I dress like a boy quite a lot. I admire the way people dress, but I fight between practicality and comfort and then trying to look good and sexy and whatever. I love everything Rihanna wears, I love. Kate Moss is such a standard answer, but she dresses amazingly. I don't really have a style icon, but I appreciate how a lot of people dress.
FAVORITE FAVORITE TIME OF DAY:
I used to be a real morning person and wake up early - I always wake up before my boyfriend (you mean Skrillex!?). I'm kind of an early riser... I try to get up and run and stuff in the morning, so I'm ready for the rest of the day.
FAVORITE PERSON TO FOLLOW ON TWITTER:
There's this guy called Josh Weller (@joshweller). He's so funny... Literally, I just want to keep replying and saying, 'HA HA, HA HA , HA HA' because everything he says is so funny, but I don’t want him to think I am weird. I retweet him all the time and I actually said the other day that following Josh Weller is good for the soul, because he cheers me up all the time.
FAVORITE HOMETOWN HANGOUT:
Actually, the pub. I live above a pub and I love just chilling in there. The guy who owns it has a really good eye for art and he's designed it really beautifully. It's an old pub... it's just a really nice place to hang out. I try to commandeer a table in the corner - make it like Friends where they just come downstairs and they have their area - but someone just kept sitting there. I live right above.
FAVORITE HOTEL AMENITY:
I always take sh** from the mini bar. Always. I never intend to and then I just do... I don’t drink from there because I know how expensive it is, but I'll always take chocolate and food and granola bars and stuff.
FAVORITE NEW ARTIST:
Yes, this folk singer... My friend from the band Mumford & Sons, I met up with him for lunch the other day and he played [Nathaniel Rateliff] to me. He was so into it. He played it to me and I was like, 'whoa.' It was beautiful.
